Questions about the Lisitsin Gambit (ECO: A04), which is characterised by the moves 1. Nf3 f5 2. e4.

The Lisitsin Gambit is an aggressive gambit by White attempting to take advantage of Black's kingside weaknesses after 1...f5. There are many pitfalls along the lines, but using this line, Black can gain equality:

  1. Nf3 f5 2. e4 fxe4 3. Ng5 d5 4. d3 e3!

Black returns the pawn to prevent White from developing his f1-bishop.

Black, after 2.e4, may also transpose into the Latvian Gambit with 2...e5!?
