First off I'm not looking for a gimmick / trap, but rather I'm looking for a new opening system for white / black that could enable more tactical options.

For the last year or so I've been playing the Open Scillian as Black, and the Queens Gambit as white, but I did that because they are very common systems. Now I am interested in finding systems that lead to open boards so that I can start playing my 'style of chess'.

Obviously I'm not the only one influencing the board, but I would love to learn how to create more opportunities for smothered mates in particular. Any suggestions?

  • I wouldn't really say the Queen's Gambit and Open Sicilian are similar. – Inertial Ignorance Sep 28 '19 at 23:05
  • @Rewan Demontay, why do you feel the compulsive need to edit everyone else's English? What he wrote was perfectly fine. You are out of control, and need to stop this. LEAVE PEOPLE'S WORK ALONE UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!! – PhishMaster Sep 28 '19 at 23:16
  • @Rewan Demontay, first, your work smacks of you doing nothing more than chasing an editing badge. Unless it is absolutely wrong, again, DO NOT TOUCH IT. You are arbitrarily changing the words of the author. Add diagrams, add a player, correct spelling, correct ACTUAL grammar mistakes, and clarify when necessary, but stop your OVEREDITING. Second, your grammar and corrections are not as good as you think they are. Third, you are correcting more than grammar. For example, when you changed my post from "a lot" to "lots". – PhishMaster Sep 29 '19 at 10:33
  • I also wrote "Just play", and you decided that I wanted to say "Please play". If I want to use “eval” instead of “evaluation”, that is MY CHOICE ALONE. There was absolutely no reason to touch my post. In addition, you incessant need to change "white" to "White" is just plain incorrect. Now, let’s discuss this post and your corrections: Why did you think it necessary to change his “This is link” to “Here is a link”? Why do you think that is OK? Even the way he hyperlinked it was fine, but no, you needed to edit that too to YOUR liking. – PhishMaster Sep 29 '19 at 10:34
  • It is not YOUR post, or your words or ideas, so if it is not absolutely wrong, leave your hands off it, and get your badge by waiting for posts that truly need editing. Lastly, I would leave you with this thought: When I was in basic training 40 years ago, there was a joke about parade, and how one soldier was the only one marching in-step. The reality is that he was the only one marching out of step. Why is it that no one else edits as much as you do? Answer: Because you are over the line is why. – PhishMaster Sep 29 '19 at 10:37
